Praying with Jane by Rachel Dodge

Praying with Jane" is a devotional book based on Jane Austin's prayers. It is very personal and practical. There is a prayer first . Then the author explains how it is practical and then has a prayer. There are many topics Rachel reviews in this book. She says pride and vanity cause blindness. It is easy to lose sight of God when we are prideful. We need to look at life from God''s perspective. If we do not our pride can blind us to our weaknesses. Another example is Jane asked for the Lord's temperament to be infused into her. We often can be challenged by people around us and by having His temperament in us we can interact with His character around us and be more Christlike to others who challenge us. Another example is We are to commend ourselves to His goodness instead of worrying about our concerns. WE often obsess over situations we can not change. Proverbs 18:10 the name of the Lord is a strong tower. …

Reload Love: Transforming Bullets to Beauty and Battlegrounds to Playgrounds

Reload Love  "  by  Lenya Heitzig  is   a very inspirational Christian book.   I found it powerful and moving and an excellent  read I  could hardly put  down.  Lenya  starts the non profit  group to help  those  people  who have been  hurt   by terrorism, ISIS ,  persecution in  Iraq and Burma.   She  makes   a couple of  trips to investigate the situation of  terror in  Iraq and Burma to  decide if  her  non profit organization   could help the people.   She was moved  by  the   wounds left  to the people by   the  terrorism .  She  hooked up with another   non profit organization in the jungles of Burma and   saw the needs  in  that  region.   She asks the reader  what is like for you to think about  the suffering in the war torn areas.   Will you   just  stand by  or will you allow these   horrible situations to move your heart. What would Jesus do for these people?   How  would it be for you to   have seen your  family members  killed by ISIS   or  in other war torn areas?  …

Lies men Believe

'Lies  Men  Believe' is   a non fiction book.  It  addresses the lies men   have in their thinking and    then directly    points to what the truth   what the thinking  should be. This  book   addresses the   concept that   We can not earn  God''s favor .   Our  standing with God  is  based on what God has done for  us in dying on the cross.   We are created in God's  image and not what others say.  Another lie is  I have a right  to be angry when  things do not go my  way. We  do not have a right to be angry.   This  book is  very freeing since  it   addresses many   ways  of thinking  that can put men in a trap and  keep them from  moving ahead in their  Christian life and their life in general.  It is  well written and personable   The  wife of the author  wrote  the  book Lies Women  Believe and this  book is the men's   version   .   I would recommend this book for  pastors,   any  Christian man.  It  will  help you  grown in your life as a Christian.    …

Faith in the Shadows Finding Christ in the Midst of Doubt by Austin Fisher

Faith in the Shadows reaches out to answer many questions about Christianity. So often people do not get their answers to their questions. The author says it is good to have questions. He addresses the problem of evil, hell, science and how God can fit with the questions in these areas. He encourages people to look for the answers and seek God in the midst of the answers. He tells believers to not stop believing when they have questions and God can meet us where are questions are. So often people stop following the Lord when they have doubts. The Lord can meet us where we have doubts and cares about our doubts. He is faithful. When we have the answers to our doubts we have a more secure and firm faith. This book "Faith in the Shadows" was given to me by the publisher and netgalley for review purposes only . I appreciate this opportunity to read and review this book.

Life Changing Prayers How God Displays His Power to Ordinary People by Michael Youssef

Life Changing Prayers is well written and teaches the believer how to pray . It uses examples of people in the Bible like Eliezer, Hannah, David, Jonah, Habakkuk and Mary in the Bible. Eliezer was persistent in prayer. Hannah prayed with an openness to God about her desire to get pregnant and have a child. David prayed with mercy and justice. Jonah prayed with despair for Ninevah. He did not like the immoral lifestyle there and found it hard to go and speak to the people as God wanted him to do. Habakkuk prayed with an openness about his concerns about his country. Mary prayed a song of praise. The author also shared other personal examples to encourage people to pray. The book is well written and encourages the people to keep praying. The book was given to me for review purposes only by Baker Books. I am a blogger and I am not obligated to give a positive review.

Prayer Coin by Elisa Morgan

The Prayer Coin is by Elisa Morgan. It is a wonderful book that teaches step by step how to pray. She uses a coin and the minting process to illustrated her method. Jesus struggled in the Garden of Gethsemane with taking the cup of abandoning his will to die for and then accepting His will for him. We also need to abandon our desires in prayer and let His will guide what He wants us to do. The book also addresses questions we may have about prayer. This book has a study guide . The author also shared her journal with the reader so they know how to practice and apply the principles. The author asked the reader how they will apply the principles after reading the book. I appreciate the publisher and netgalley for letting me read this book and write a review.

I Declare War by Levi Lusko review practical advice for the Christian life

#I  Declare War# is  Lusko's   way  of  having us look at the areas  that hold us back  in our Christian life.  Paul  talked about  how He  wanted to do   something but   was hindered.     The    book is excellent and very personable.  He  warns  Christians to be ready   for the battle like a soldier is ready with his armor. He   talked   about how your   words  can be harmful  and like a weapon.  He   shared  his struggle with   bridling  his   tongue  after   having  difficult   middle school  years with bullying.  He   draws the reader into the book with such personal  examples.   He   talked also about how   we must train our  mind to be positive  like the navy seals are told.  They  view any  obstacle   from a  positive angle.   Lusko  goes on to teach  keys   to overcome  the battle with yourself which we all face.   There is  a DVD   series and a study   guide for the book.   The  book would  be excellent for a  Men's or Women's  Bible study  group. Fearless prayer by Craig Hazen

Image
Here is the review about a practical and helpful Christian book    on prayer.

'Fearless prayer ' is written by Craig Hazen. . The author encourages the reader to climb to deeper levels with God in prayer. He addresses the barriers that believers may have in understanding who God is and the challenges that might keep them from a deeper prayer life. He tells believers to take advantage of the command to ask anything in prayer. He feels believers do not ask and believe in prayer. He also talks about what it means to live in the vine and have our nourishment from the vine and not ourselves. We are to be dependent on the vine and not leaning on our own strength. We are to lean on God first during our daily challenges and not look to ourselves. In America we get used to looking to ourselves to solve our problems and not look to God. Dr. Hazen is a professor on apologetics at Biola and encourages believers to know God for who …

Forgive your way to Freedom by Gil Mertz review

Image
Forgive your way to Freedom " leads the believer in the importance , how to forgive and what happens to the person who does not forgive. The author is very open about all He has suffered with a father who never told him He loved him until He was dying. He tells the reader how moving it was for his dad to tell him He loved him and then He worked through the needed forgiveness He had to give his dad. The author shared several examples of people who forgave people in very difficult situations . He shared about Corrie ten Boom forgiving those who persecuted her in the Nazi concentration camps. He also shared how Joseph in the Bible was a real example for him. Joseph suffered innocently and never lost God's promises and also focused on God's purposes. He was put in prison for not a valid reason and was mistreated by his brothers. He restored his broken relationships and made sure He had peace with God. When we fail to forgiv…
