#How to Pray in a Crisis#  by Daniel  Dean Henderson  is a Christian Living book.  This book  gives a 4 step  approach to  praying during a crisis.    In 1860 Charles Spurgeon  attributes  the success of his church to the twice daily prayer meetings.   We  can open our  Bible  to  learn how to pray.  We can ask the Holy Spirit to guide us. WE  can ask ourselves  what  does the  passage reveal about Himself.  We  need to pray for our world  during times of  crisis. We  need to develop a prayer culture in our church. We need to pray for missions, the city the nations, missionaries, our pastors  . We  need to have prayer meetings with other pastors.  We  need to use the Psalms for prayer and pray what we read.  We need to pray for revival in our land. #A Bride of  Convenience#  by  Jody Hedlund is an historical  Christian fiction book.  Jody is a bestselling author . She  has received the Christy, Carol and  Christian Book Awards.   Her books describe the characters well and  are well researched. This  book is  the third  in the Bride Ships  series. Zoe  Hart  , an unemployed mill worker,  who traveled by ship on the Robert Lowe  ship to Vancouver  . She  was part of the group  who  came on the ship to  get married.  The settings are Vancouver Island and  Yale in 1863.  There were many orphans at  that time and  unemployed.  Zoe is a caring and self sacrificing   person.  The  themes of the book are   forgiveness,  grace, self sacrificing. #Set the Stars Alight# by  Amanda Dykes is  an  historical , romance and Christian  fiction novel.  The  story is a time split  story with    the   story  going back and forth    between   2020 and  200 years  ago.  Frederick lived in the early  1800s.   and    his story is  told .  The  story  in  2020 is  with Lucy and  Dachel.   They  grew up together   hearing the  watchmaker stories from Lucy's  father who was a watchmaker.   The themes of  love, sacrifice, mystery, forgiveness, action  are seen throughout the book.  The book is carefully researched.   The poetry is carefully  written adding a special  touch to the  book.  The reader is drawn into the mystery  when the reader goes back and forth with the  time split  story.    There are   Christian values and character traits are woven into the story.  An  example of   the Christian  values and  traits  is this  quote.   "God is the pursuer of your heart , Lucy," Dad had said. Reborn by Clayton King is a Christian living book. Clayton King is the founder and president of Clayton King Ministries, Crossroads Missions and Summer Camps, President of Evangelism at Anderson University and teaching pastor at New Spring Church in South Carolina. Clayton guides the reader in how to share about the Lord with those who do not know the Lord personally. He shares stories about people coming to know the Lord in the Bible. He also shares experiences He has with people that are similar to those stories. He shows how Jesus changes everything for all these people. Good Man is by Nathan Clarkson . This book is a Christian living book. It addresses the identity crisis men face today. It is easy for men to get their identity from the world and not from what God says about you. Our identity should be in what God says about us. He uses qualities that are important to redirect us to the way God sees us and not the way the world sees us. He is very honest and open. Men will feel like people understand them and care about their life struggles. This book is helpful and well written. Gary Travels the world presenting seminars, and his radio programs air on more than 400 stations. R  York Moore is also an author.  We  each  can  feel more  connected to  others with our love  language. Tozer on the Almighty God by AW Tozer

Tozer on the Almighty God by A W Tozer is a 365  day  devotional. Tozer was an American pastor for  44 years. He  was a pastor , author, spiritual mentor. He  was  given  honorary  degrees from Wheaton,  and Houghton colleges.   He  has  been respected in the Christian world for years.  This   devotional is   very helpful and practical.  He  gives  a verse and then  writes a short   in depth   message about the verse. I  find the messages helpful and practical.   The  messages really make me think about my life.  Thank you to the publisher , netgalley and the author for allowing me to read and review the   book . The Way of Love by Tracie Peterson is an historical fiction book. Tracie is a best selling author. . She also teaches writing workshops on historical and inspirational writing. This book is the second in the Williamette Brides series. The main character is Faith. She is attending Williamette Medical College. She has a good heart and wants to help the Native Americans. This story is written at a time when not many women become doctors. I admire Faith's stand to care for those who have been neglected and are on reservations. She has character and principles. The story takes place at a time when there is a lot of unrest and resentment against the Native Americans. She still takes her stand to raise money and help the Native Americans. The story takes place in the late 1800's. I walked away thinking about Faith as a memorable character. The book gives good historical back round about the Native Americans in Oregon. #God and the Pandemic by N T  Wright#  is a Christian living book. NT  Wright is a former Bishop of Durham and is a leading Bible scholar. He   taught  New Testament studies at  Cambridge , McGill and Oxford Universities. He has been on ABC News , Dateline, Colbert Report. He is also a best selling author.  He   examines the  pandemic from the Old Testament, New Testament and history.   He  also addresses the  questions we have  like why has God allowed this pandemic?    He  uses scriptures  to help address this   issue.  He also  helps  Christians see practical ways  they can  live out  their  Christian life in the midst of the pandemic.  i  like is  over all perspective.   He   tells us as Christians we have a vital  role to play in our world during  the pandemic.  I   feel challenged to apply   the practical suggestions He  has given  for the pandemic.  Kingdom Encounters# by  Tony Evans is  a Christian Living  book.  Dr. Tony Evans is the Founder and Director of the Urban Alternative.  He is the pastor  of Oak Cliff  Bible Fellowship. in Dallas,, Texas.  He is a best selling author and  has a daily radio program.  Dr. Evans  shares  important encounters in the Bible   that are life changing. He  share the story and what happened to the person in the Bible story. He   shows the reader that Jesus can also  meet them in their  trials and conflicts in life.  He  makes the Bible  real for our every day lives.   God will meet you  when He  feels  absent and you will have a life  altering  encounter.  The book  was  practical and helpful.   The book made Christianity more real. She tells the reader about the characters and then describes their weaknesses. She has a beautiful way of showing women how they can relate to these women. A Gilded Lady# by  Elizabeth Camden  is  the second  book in the Hope and Glory series.   Elizabeth has    won the Rita and Christy  awards.  Before she wrote books she  was a librarian  in small and large libraries. She writes  historical fiction that  takes  place during the Gilded  Age.  The story takes place  during  the Gilded Age.  The setting is Washington, D. C. The  story  takes place  during  President  McKinley's  presidency.    The  book is well researched.  The author  uses  true details  to  show the reader  what life was like during his presidency.    The characters and settings are well described.  A Single Spark #  by Judith Miller is an historical   Christian fiction book .  The story takes place during the  Civil War.   The reader  will step into the   work room where the    weapons were made  for the war. The   work stations  had rules and order  to get the production  done.  There were lots of demands on those who worked there. The two sides in the Civil War ( North and the South)  each  competed with each other during the war.   The  book gives insight into what it took to keep the war going.  The themes of the book are honesty vs. dishonesty, love.  The book has Christian values   weaved into the story. During this time period there was a influenza and dysentery epidemic. There were lots of orphans since many of their parents died with these bad epidemics. The story helps the reader understand the challenges of the epidemics during that time. The themes are forgiveness, self sacrifice. The writer weaves in Christian values in the beautiful story. It is an old fashioned story with Christian values. The writer helps the reader understand the people who lived in the Appalachian Mountains.
