Light on a Hill by Connilyn Cossette

Light on a Hill  by  Connilyn  Cossette  is a  Biblical fiction book.    It is  the first book in the  City of Refuge   series.  Moriyah  was  taken  captive in  Jericho   7 years  ago and branded  with the Cannonite  gods. She has   been shamed  by the  people and  wears a veil. It is hard for her to  get a husband  due to   her  branding and  shaming  .  She  wears a veil to protect herself from the  horrible shaming.    For a  long  time  she   did  not  have  any  marriage prospects   .  Finally her  father  finds a marriage prospect  but  her life  changes  and she  has to   flee to a  Levitical   refuge  city for her safety.   She    faced lots of difficulties  and the  city of refuge was  supposed to protect her.   She   sets  up an inn to  offer  her  cooking  for   people who are visiting.  She looks to God to  protect her  from her  enemies and foreign  invaders.  Her  adopted  son  whose  parents have died also   came with her  to the city of refuge for safety.   What will become of  Moriyah  with  all the shaming and the foreign invaders?  How will she  survive  all the  enemies in front of her?    The story gives lots of insights  into what  life  was like  during Biblical times.   It  also  shows  us that God can be our  refuge   during  times   of   challenge  and difficulty.  Moriyah  is  an example for us during  our times of  difficulty.   Thank you  for this wonderful story.  The author has  written a wonderful book.
