Something Needs to Change by David Platt

Something Has to Change by David Platt review: David Platt is a pastor at McLean Bible Church in metro Washington, DC. He has written many other books including Radical. David shares his eye opening experience to the Himalayas in this book. He took a week trip to the Himalayas. This area is considered to be one of the Unreached People Groups. He went to the Himalayas with a group and met people there who were and continue to spread Christianity. .. As He trekked through the difficult terrain He was face to face with many questions. He asked the very difficult questions we often encounter in this world. He asked ," If the gospel is true and God is really good, then where is God amid extreme poverty and pain?" "Where are the peace and protection of God for the oppressed and exploited in the world.?"Is hell really a place and does it actually last forever?"" If so, then why are so many people born into what seems like an earthly hell, only to move to an eternal one?" He was extremely vulnerable and real as He faced many difficult situations. He saw many very young girls being victims of human trafficking. Christians who live there are often persecuted for their faith. He saw people getting sick from poor water. He saw the people sick and needing medical care and not able to get it. He shared about his daily experiences and followed it with his Bible reading and his personal journals. He reflected in his journals on what the Bible reading meant for what He was personally facing. There are reflection questions at the end of every chapter so the reader can personalize what they are reading. This book is hard to put down and will leave the reader thinking what am I doing in this world. Am I making my life count for the Lord? This book is a real life changer. The book has Bible study material and DVDs for personal or group use. There are wonderful resources about the book including a trailer at www.radical.net I highly recommend this book.. I was given an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher and I am not obligated to give a positive review. Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this excellent and well written book.
